TOEFL Writing: Specificity
前回の記事（こちら）でエッセイはopinionのサポートが重要であるとお話ししました。今回の記事では、自分の意見を短時間でサポートしていく上で極めて重要であるSpecificity (具体性)についてお話します。
下記問題及び解答例を参考にレクチャーを進めていきます。
Students should not study art and music to focus on more useful subjects.

Some people say that the role of education is to prepare student for the modern world. Therefore, schools should cut art and music out of the curriculum. I disagree to the statement.
First, students’ thinking will be shortened if they don't study art and music. Art and music are very important for children to improve the way of their thinking. Therefore, if students do not study them, their thinking way will not be improved. In addition, if students learn art and music, they have chances to become artists and musician.
Second, students can develop creativity by learning art and music. Creativity is especially important because people need creativity to produce something new. Creativity supports the modern world today, such as smart phones and trains, and these things are produced by creativity. Furthermore, if students only learned English, and Science Classes, their creativity may be reduced.
For these reasons, art and music classes are important to help students learn these important skills. By learning art and music, students’ creativity and thinking will be developed. Therefore, I disagree that art and music should be cut out of the curriculum.
Body Paragraphs (second, and third paragraph) のうち、下線部が引かれている箇所が全てopinion箇所になります（これが自分で見抜ける様にtrainingすることが第一歩です）。これらのセンテンスはI thinkとは書かれていないですが、人により様々な意見が出る可能性があります。ご覧になって頂ければわかると思いますが、body paragraphのうち意見が大部分を占めており、それらの説明はなされていません。Writingが苦手である生徒のほとんど多くは、このように意見が列挙される事が多いですが、これでは評価が得られません。また、意見の数が多いと、短時間内にもし考えが思いつかなかった場合にessayを書く事が出来ずに大幅に点数が下がってしまう為、点数が安定しません。Opinionの数をできるだけ少なくしそのサポートをしっかりと行えるように実力をつけることが最も安定させられるだけでなく、留学後を見据えた準備としても効果が高いです。したがって、30分の短時間essayでは原則body 2 paragraphsを推奨しています （例外的にwritingが得意な人は除く）。2 body paragraphsでしっかりと内容を書けるトレーンングを積み、本番３つ良いアイディアが思い浮かべば、自分の判断で3 bodyにするかどうか判断する、という戦略をとった方が安定させられます。
では、上記の下線部の意見をサポートすれば良いという事になりますが、短時間で上手にできる見通しは非常に悪いです。長くなってしまう為、次回にその理由をお話したいと思います。
